Zacher Processing Center, East Wenatchee

The Zacher Processing Center outside of East Wenatchee is where all recycled materials collected throughout the county are brought to be further sorted (if necessary) and bundled to ship off to larger recycling facilities.

Community Recycling Centers

The Douglas County Solid Waste Department works in partnership with cities and towns within the county to operate numerous Community Recycling Centers. The Recycling Centers are open to the all Douglas County residents free of charge for most designated recyclables, and will only accept those specific recyclables listed on each facility's page. Hours vary by location.

Recycling Trailers

Two recycling trailersOur Recycling Trailers have 24-hour access to drop-off the following rinsed and clean recyclables:

  • Corrugated Cardboard: Has a wavy “corrugated” or fluted strip running through the center. It is most commonly found in boxes used for packaging and shipping items.
  • Mixed Waste Paper: Newspapers, magazines, catalogs, phonebooks, junk mail, cereal boxes or ‘slick’ cardboard, glossy paper, paper egg cartons, shredded paper, etc.
  • P.E.T.E #1 Plastics: Clear/transparent and light green plastic water bottles, soft drink bottles or sport drink bottles.
  • H.D.P.E. #2 Plastics: Clear or opaque plastic beverage containers, milk and juice jugs.
  • Tin: Accepted at all trailers except the trailer in Palisades.
