Weight Restrictions

Each winter, seasonal weight restrictions go into effect on certain roads within Douglas County. Weight restrictions will appear on the Road Restrictions Map. These temporary restrictions are necessary to protect roadways softened by melting snow and runoff and can prevent potentially costly damage to the road.

Seasonal Permits

Only emergency response vehicles, school buses, and haulers displaying a permit are exempt from these weight restrictions. Seasonal permits are free and can be obtained directly from the Transportation Department’s Area Supervisor by calling the closest area shop:

  • Bridgeport Shop: 509-686-8989
