Draft Shoreline Inventory Maps
One of the first tasks involved in updating the Regional Shoreline Master Program is inventorying the existing shoreline areas, by reviewing and compiling information about the shorelines into detailed “composition” maps. This information is then analyzed for areas of the shoreline with similar characteristics, which are then lumped together into areas known as “shoreline reaches”.
The reach and composition information along with the shoreline designation criteria found in WAC 173-26-211 are important tools that will be used by the regional shoreline master program staff and advisory committee members when drafting shoreline designations for all waters in Douglas County under Shoreline Management Act jurisdiction.
